Student Success Stories

Lives transformed through faith, education and the Lasallian mission of touching hearts and teaching minds.

Touching Hearts, Teaching Minds, Transforming Lives

At La Salle Technical Training Institute, we believe that every student carries a story of resilience, hope and determination. Inspired by the mission of Saint John Baptist De La Salle and guided by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, we walk alongside our students — especially those from vulnerable and financially marginalized backgrounds — ensuring that financial hardship never extinguishes a bright mind's potential.

Below are the real stories of young Kenyans whose lives have been forever changed through the generosity of our scholarship partners and the dedication of the Lasallian community.

"This opportunity expanded my knowledge, broadened my horizons, and opened doors to new possibilities. It instilled in me a sense of purpose and a drive to make the most of the opportunities that came my way."

I Am Very Grateful for the Doors You Opened for Me

Eunice's upbringing was a tough one. Her mother worked tirelessly to make ends meet, often faced with the impossible choice between school fees and food for her six children. The financial burden was so heavy that opportunities for higher education seemed completely out of reach.

When Eunice was about to join further studies, life became even more difficult — she became a mother to a young daughter, which delayed her enrolment by a year. When she finally joined, her family simply could not afford the fees, rent, food and still support her siblings at home. She was on the very brink of dropping out.

Then everything changed. Eunice was awarded a full scholarship through the Friends of La Salle program — a ray of hope shining through the darkness. The scholarship covered her fees completely, giving her the chance to focus entirely on her studies.

The Impact: Eunice graduated successfully and is now committed to paying this kindness forward — using her education to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, just as others did for her.

"Your faith in me motivates me to strive for excellence in all that I do. I trust that one day I will be in a position to pay your kindness to those in need." — Eunice Juma

The Scholarship Restored My Future

Mercy Jelimo was raised by her single mother — a woman of extraordinary strength despite very limited means. Abandoned by her father's family, every day was a struggle. Watching her mother struggle became Mercy's greatest motivation to work harder and change her family's story.

When Mercy received her acceptance letter, the excitement was quickly overshadowed by a devastating reality: there was simply no money to cover tuition. She vividly remembers making the heartbreaking call to the administration, voice shaking and crying, explaining she would have to defer her studies.

After weeks of sleepless nights — wondering how to afford food, rent and fees — a phone call changed everything. Mercy was awarded a scholarship under the Mr. Ross program. The news felt unreal. For the first time, the crushing burden she had carried was lifted from her shoulders.

The Achievement: Mercy graduated with a Second Class Upper Division — a remarkable academic achievement that is a testament to what determination combined with opportunity can produce.

"Even in the darkest times, there is always a light waiting to guide us. And when it does, it can transform not only our circumstances but who we are as individuals." — Mercy Jelimo

"This scholarship did more than cover my tuition — it restored my belief in myself and in my future. I can never fully express how much this opportunity has meant to me and my family."

My Accomplishment is a Testament to Lasallian Generosity

Moses Mudave grew up in a single-parent household, with his mother as his sole provider. Coming from humble beginnings, his dreams of obtaining a degree seemed impossibly far away as financial challenges mounted with every passing year.

Through the Friends of La Salle Scholarship Program, Moses received the support he needed to focus completely on his studies. His financial burden was lightened, his academic focus sharpened, and his dreams became a reality.

Moses graduated with a degree in Education — a qualification that not only transformed his own life but has positioned him to transform the lives of others as an educator.

Paying It Forward: Moses is determined to honour the trust placed in him by using his education to make a meaningful impact on others — carrying the Lasallian tradition of service forward into a new generation.

"I am determined to honor your trust by using my education to make a meaningful impact on others, just as you have done for me." — Moses Mudave
